What's making me happy today :-)
I have just laughed until I've cried, alongside Mr G. It has been the biggest tonic I have received since this pandemic hit.
I'm always the late to the party with things, and nine times out of ten, I don't ever bother turning up, I just stay in with a good book wearing pyjamas. I haven't seen one episode of Game of Thrones. I haven't seen a Harry Potter film, nor read one of the books. I haven't got Netflix. I haven't seen that Tiger thing with Carole Baskin, although I love the memes. It's almost like I'm rebelling against the next big thing sometimes. 'Oh Shell, you must watch this/listen to this/buy this/try this'. Once I hear those words that's me like... nope. I don't feel FOMO with modern culture, and one thing that has definitely passed me by, has been podcasts.
I was reading an online article, a money diary I read every week about how different women, different ages, different walks of life spend their very different incomes. And the young lady in this week's spoke about a podcast called 'My Dad Wrote a Porno'. And the title intrigued me, so I looked it up, decided it sounded like a giggle, downloaded an app to my phone and started to listen to it with my headphones on. I only got five minutes in and had to stop it, because I wanted it to be something that Mr G and I listened to together. My ribs are aching, I was crying, I think I pulled a muscle in my stomach. Everyone in the world probably has heard of it by now, it's had millions of downloads, but on the off chance that you haven't, it's a trio of friends, one of who's 60 year old father has written erotic novels called Belinda Blinked. They read out (and critique) a chapter per podcast. They say laughter is the best medicine and you know what? They should prescribe this.
In other news! Our pie delivery arrived from Greenhalgh's!
They even put in a freebie gingerbread man to thank us for the order. Really impressed with how everything arrived, securely packaged in plenty of ice packs, would highly recommend them.
Just prepping our anniversary tea now while he is in the shower. It's been sickeningly hot today, 29C at the peak, and he went out to mow the lawns and cut the hedges. I didn't move from the sofa. Hell no, sorry.
Next door's pug Bella had a litter of five pups this morning, my neighbour popped them over the fence in their little basket for me to have a stroke, so adorable. I'm not an animal lover but they were so freaking cute it's unbelievable.
My new t shirt arrived too and it's me to a tee (pardon the pun)... this is not the actual t shirt but a screen grab as I cannot be arsed moving to photograph it. It's too hot. I got it in black and I love it.
Just opened an ice cold bottle of Wrexham lager now with Mr G, to toast the two of us. Been a lovely chilled day with the man that I adore :-)

I love receiving comments, so if you should stop by, just give a little wave to me and be sure to say 'Hi!' :-)
I know, I know... poetry also not my strong point...
