End of the week round up

I've missed a couple of days, I meant to do a happy birthday post for Mr G, but to be perfectly honest with you, I was ruined yesterday. I'm slowly reaching the point (don't laugh, I'm serious) that the hangovers just aren't worth the night before.

We had another couple of nice walks, just the usual route.

I pretty much stuck to our meal plan this week, and with the exception of the alcohol and birthday cake on Mr G's birthday, we have also stuck to plan.

One of the highlights of the week, Recipe Tin Eats Prawn Mango Avocado Summer salad.

I made homemade scotch eggs for lunch and snacks, they were a really good batch, worked out at 1 syn each. 5% fat pork mince, salt, pepper, garlic granules and onion granules blitzed in the food processor to make the sausage meat. Coated with a pack of Aldi Katsu Curry breadcrumbs. I still prefer using sausage meat for these but when you're using low syn sausages to do them, they're not the cheapest.

We had Recipe Tin Eats Chicken Shawarma for Mr G's birthday tea, I clean forgot to take a photograph of the assembled kebabs when they were cooked.

We had these on huge garlic naan breads, salad, and chilli sauce. Not a scrap was left from anyone. Trust me when I tell you to try this recipe. Whether you're cooking for one, or fifteen, you can adapt the recipe on the site. You will never taste anything as good. It's one of those recipes that if I had to pick one thing to eat every day for the rest of my life, it would be this.

I made Mr G two birthday cakes, one jam and cream and a chocolate cake with chocolate orange frosting and mini Terry's segments on the top.

We haven't had a walk for a couple of days. I knew that my new shoes had been rubbing the other day, and then when I went to put my shoes and socks on to go out on Friday morning, both my little toes had blisters on them as big as the little toe itself. I figured it was best not to risk them popping, the last thing I need is an infection right now. Thankfully they've gone down now, so when Mr G is up, I will make him a coffee and we will go out for a walk. It's bitterly cold, and looking at the trees in the garden, there's quite a bit of a brisk wind blowing. I have a loin of pork in the oven which is almost cooked, and that will be our dinner today, roast pork dinner.

Mr G finally cut my hair too. After months of asking, finally he relented and somehow managed to give me a pretty decent bob. With kitchen scissors, because I couldn't find my hairdressing scissors. It was so long! But the problem was that it was just straggly at the bottom, it wasn't growing properly, probably because the last cut I had was in October 2019. Apart from my dodgy Covid fringe cuts, of course.

Looking forward to our first weigh in tomorrow, hopefully the birthday blow out won't have impacted too much on our weight loss. Do our Zoom meeting and then go out for a few steps too, if the weather isn't too bad. If it is, we can go on the treadmill, which has once again been relieved of its coat rack duties, haha. So far, it looks like we're facing 'light snow' on Friday, and a dry week otherwise.
