Lovely weekend
Had a really lovely weekend, despite the disappointment surrounding the rugby. That said, we lost 0-68 so it would have been gutting whether or not. Glad I didn't have to witness that, to be fair! We didn't buy the live stream due to it clashing with the England game, and it's uploaded free of charge later anyway. Reading the comments from fans who did watch it, I don't think we'll bother.
On Friday, we went to Bangor Rugby Club to watch Marchogion Mon take on Conwy Celts. It was Anglesey's first ever game of league.
Nice to see our friend Conrad from Wrexham too, this is his little project, trying to bring rugby league to other parts of North Wales. There's a double header this coming Saturday too, at Colwyn Bay, with the Wrexham and Flintshire teams as well. It was great actually watching live sport again, although there were some crunching tackles, and being right on the touchline, I spent a lot of time wincing.
Saturday we watched the Euros, sat in stunned silence like probably millions worldwide as the incident with Christian Eriksen occurred. I hope he goes on to make a full recovery, poor bugger.
This morning we went out for a nice walk, it was absolutely sweltering here from first thing. We tried an alternative route to Cadnant, involving, yes, a nice big hill. That's me at the top, waiting, while Mr G fannied around taking photographs of it.
We were rewarded with a lovely view on the way back down, though.
Mr G and I had decided we were going to have a crack at painting rocks ourselves, and we did one each yesterday afternoon before the Wales game kicked off. I did a Maneki Neko, and he did a little boat in the water. We hid them on the promenade, and by the time we settled down this afternoon, they had both been found. The little boy who found mine was so taken with it that his mother said it would probably be a while before he re-hid it. I said to keep it, to bring him luck.
We found a Laggsy on the promenade too, a fantastic one with Krusty the Clown on but crikey, it was heavy, so it only got carried a few metres before it was hidden again!
The boy decided he fancied having a crack at one while he waited for the England match to kick off, and he did this number. I think it's awesome, and he likes it so much that I think he might decide to keep it for himself. He said if he did, that he would do another for us to hide.
Mr G set up the fan zone in the back garden. England flag, television, soft drink and snacks. He and the boy watched the England game out there, while I sweltered in the house watching it.
They've relocated to the summer house now for the Holland v Ukraine match.
A busy week ahead of us again, nothing mad, just something every single day to keep us tied to the house. I doubt we will get many, if any walks in. Phone calls, phone appointments, optician appointment for the boy who has taken a football to his face once too often, parcel deliveries expected ready for Father's Day. Hopefully we can get a clear week the following week and have a complete week of days out before Mr G starts his new job.
