Been ages since I've posted, nearly three weeks, I think. And short of a cracking run of results from Crusaders (five wins on the bounce and third in the league!) and one day out, without Mr G, to the RAF Valley Family Day last week, life has been pretty dull.
I went with my cousin and her husband and girls, my uncle and my parents. Her husband works in Valley, so they had been there before. It was really good, the only issue being the wind which was whipping because it was so out in the open. My face was wind-burned (it's a thing, apparently) and my hair, I couldn't get a brush through it when I got home. My hair was so matted that brushing it was pulling it out by the roots. The Red Arrows were fantastic, though, as usual, but my favourite were the Typhoons - wow, the noise? Hit me right in the core of my chest as they went past. Awesome. Next year, Mr G is going to make sure that he books the day off and hopefully he can come with us. As for my cousin and I, we've decided a) hair gets tied back/up and b) putting make up on that morning was a waste of time.
We took the boy to Broughton to spend his birthday money, and then on to Wrexham, where he developed a migraine on the way, and we spent less than an hour there. He managed to get a bargain on trainers in JD though.
We went to watch Crusaders play West Wales Raiders, decided against the fancy dress after all. We went again on Sunday to watch them play Barrow. Despite the brilliant results of late, including against teams that we don't usually beat (Hunslet, Keighley), teams we usually do (West Wales), and teams where it could go either way (Coventry) I wasn't holding much hope. Mr G was adamant that they would win. And - they did. She of little faith, eh?
We won 23-10, hands down the best performance I've seen from them in the years I've been watching them, and the game was so good, we watched it again when we got home.
They're away to Workington this weekend, but it's not close enough to payday, plus, that's one heck of a trek. So, we have Rochdale Hornets to look forward to on the 28th August, and London Skolars on the 11th of September. Which is also number 3's 18th birthday, however, he is notoriously anti social, even worse then me. He has said no to a party, not even a party like his sister had last year, in the garden, just close family and friends. I said if I made a party would you come to it, or would you just come down to get food and go back to your room? He nodded. So, there we have it. I do have an idea of a few things I can do that he might enjoy more than socialising with people.
He also aced his AS results, he got an A in IT, and a Distinction in his Computer Games Design course. He dropped physics a few months back, so it's vital that he keeps up the good work if he wants to go to Uni next year. My daughter got a Merit in her Music course too, so they're both pretty chuffed, and I'm a very proud mum. Looks like it will be two off to Uni next year!
