Super Saturday

What a fab day and night we had yesterday. I'm paying for it today, of course. I'm also married to the most amazing guy. I don't know what I did in a past life to reap the karma for him, but it must have been good. I woke up or rather he woke me up at noon with a coffee and lunch in bed. He had cleared all the mess from last night, washed and kept all the dishes, and when I said that he didn't have to do that, he told me that I had done all the cooking so it was only fair. He does have a point, I suppose, but still. It was nice not to wake up to it. He is a diamond of a man, he really is.

First things first - the cheesecake. Wow.  Just wow. Amazing.

The traybake. Not as flat as the picture makes it look, honestly!

Chicken Shawarma kebabs with tortillas and salad. There was not a scrap of chicken left, I repeat, not a scrap. I had three full skewers of chicken left. My youngest polished one off last night, he and my eldest shared one for lunch, and Mr G and I shared another. I must have made these about ten times now and I have never, ever thrown one piece of chicken away. Our friends were raving about it too, they loved it.

Beth made me a birthday cake, bless her, and bought me a lovely set with a gin glass, gins and mixers.

Beth and Mr G before we all got hideously drunk. To think she was in a coma in November and not expected to pull through, it's an absolute bloody miracle that she's here now, and come so far.

And this is my favourite picture of the evening, Mr G, the youngest and Pete having a good old laugh at something. Not a clue what. He was so funny last night, the boy, some of the corkers that he came out with were that his football team mates call him a Wish Gareth Bale because of his man bun. And also that he was a 14 year old in a 43 year old man's body. He cracks me up, he's definitely got his Dad's brilliant sense of humour. But that was pretty much the tone of the entire evening, just eating, drinking and being merry. I didn't realise how much I missed socialising with my friends.

Earlier in the afternoon we had watched Cru play their first league match of the season, they won comfortably, 24 - 44 I believe. My eldest and I watched with a couple of beers, his first time watching them. Still don't think he's a fan but it was nice. And nice to see this too, albeit briefly...

Top of the league, you're having a laugh... well, we were top of the league for 24 hours. We're now joint top (but in third place) after the other matches have played this afternoon. A very promising start to the season, very promising indeed.

Not a clue what the scales will say tomorrow at Slimming World, we were really good all week, until last night. And one bad day can negate a whole week of being good. But it's my birthday, and I really wanted to mark it this year, especially after what we've all been through this last year.

Mr G had a job interview on Friday and he has another lined up for Monday after group. The one on Friday seemed really positive, he asked the manager interviewing him if they'd had many applicants and she said not many that were flexible. He told her that he was fully flexible apart from Sundays, any other day, any other shift he would be willing to work. She told him that would be ideal as they don't open on a Sunday! We're keeping our fingers crossed that he is successful, with either of them, and that he can get back on days, and we can't get back into a normal routine again. Him working nights doesn't work for us as a family, and it's tiring too, at his age.

So, tomorrow will be a bit of a quiet one. Slimming World, job interview, my mum and dad are popping up to see me about noon, and then Mr G will have to try and get a couple of hours sleep in before his night shift.
